Just now They Announced in Great Mosque of BAYE NIASS That, USTADH(PROFESSOR) BARHAM JOBE As Passed way in Morocco Hospital INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHIRRAJIUN Lets refresh so we remember the man we talking about so we pray harder! {Shaykh Ibrahims Personal Secretary & Renowned Scholar} Compiled by: Pa Ahmadou Sohna (Gambia) His father, Mahmud Jobe went into old age without a child, came to Baye(Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse) to lay his complains and Baye made him a promise: “You will have a male child who will be heard far and wide because of his knowledge”. Some few years after, Ustadh Barham Jobe was born. He was named after Baye(i.e. Ibrahim) and after him been weaned at the age of 5years old, he was given to Baye, who was responsible for his welfare and most importantly, his education. From his own words, he said; “I was living under the arms/care of the great Qutb(Spiritual Pole) at a young age. (I remember) he traveling, leaving us at home, we missing him. Then, later I grew older, he took me along and later. When I became mature, he sent me to represent him”. He(Ustadh Barhama Jobe) had all his (fundamental) education under (the tutelage of) Baye as already stated. A famous incident happened during the darah(madrasa/school) during a rainy season, there was a day they were learning one of the books that was so rare to get, so Baye wrote it on Papers for them, after it rained Baye called them to come recite, so during the rush to come compete in who to take first in the recitation, his own papers fell into a stagnant water and got spoilt, he had a bitter heart and ended up crying. So, Baye hugged him and told him words to cheer him up till he laughed. Shaykh Tijani Niasse, the Khalifah said: “since that day, wherever he (Barhama Jobe) gathers people, he will entertain them with remembrance of Allah, till they are happy laughing”. He served as Secretary to Baye, and Baye made him the keeper of his library and all his resources of knowledge. He served as a Professor in The Kwame Nkruma University in Ghana from 1964-1966, as head of department and taught all the Islamic disciplines. He up till today serves as the Secretary to the Muslim Elder’s Council of Senegal (Note Baye held the same post for many years in his life time). He now tours around the world doing conferences and according to him of 60% of those talks are on Baye. He once requested from Baye some awards and Baye responded to him “here are what you requested for, but you will go past this stage and get to a point that knowledge will bow for you in all aspects and disciplines and the greatest of it all is that you will get to a stage, they will say “he is Baye” (not the exact words as Baye put it)” I heard Shaykh Mahmud Ibrahim Niasse said Baye told them (children of Baye) that anything they wish to know, they should ask Him (Barhama Jobe), as he has witnessed all that happened. »To be Continued« Sources; Sh.
