INNISFAIL PCYC SQUASH SUMMER FIXTURES 2014 ROUND 3, WEEK 11 – 14TH OCTOBER, 2014 MATCH OF THE NIGHT CHRIS CROOK Versus TYLER EDGERTON 1st Game: 10 - 9 2nd Game: 10 - 8 3rd Game: 3 - 9 4th Game: 2 - 9 5th Game: 9 - 7 Total Points: 34 - 42 HIGHLIGHTS: This match started out with the first 2 games being anyone’s. Both players pushed themselves to the limit, retrieving well to put each other under immense pressure to force both games to long ones. As a result, both players’ fitness was put to the test in the rest of the match. In the third and fourth games, Tyler took advantage of Chris’s fatigue and moved him from the front of the court to the back, causing Chris to make numerous unforced errors, resulting in Tyler evening up the game scores at 2 all. However, there was a dramatic turnaround in the fifth. Chris showed determination, pushed through his tiredness and fought back to win the game and the match. He thought about the game and played the correct shot at the right time, hitting the ball crisply with good technique. There were a number of other five setters on the night between Joel Forster & Josh Dotti, Tony Corby & Roy McCarthy and Paul Ketchell & George Andy. Division 2 produces the most of these because, on the night, any one of the players could win, such is the depth of players on that line. Paul Ketchell and George Andy’s match was a similar one to the match of the night whereby the first 2 games were long, with the score at 1 all. Both players were determined to win and were feeling fatigued so the rest of the match see-sawed between both players. Paul pushed through and won the next game easily but George fought back to win the fourth to even up the scores. In the fifth, Paul’s fitness was superior and he finished strongly to take out the match. Paul is on the improve, developing good length in his shots and is running well to retrieve the ball to stay in the rally.
