INSECT BITES Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine by Thomas Bartram Insect bites are a reaction to any insect bite due to venom released/or an allergic response. Symptoms - redness, pain, itching and swelling. From personal experience to any bite I first apply Tea Tree oil or Lavender oil (good antiseptic) Rescue Cream(calms the irritation to affected area) Aloe Vera is very cooing and healing. Honey is also an excellent healing remedy. Recently I found having a badly inflamed swollen bite I soaked a piece of gauze (or cotton cloth) in Witch Hazel Water and bandaged to affected area overnight. The result was miraculous! Wasp bites - cider vinegar. Bee/ant bites - Bicarbonate of Soda. A good insect repellent spray is made by a Vogel. If you want to make your own - citronella oil, lavender oil and of course garlic repels all insect bites. Eating Marmite has been proven to be a very helpful repellent.
