INSIGHTS FOR LIVING with Victor Okwudiri (Sunday, 27th October, 2013) Questions that Bother, Answers that Matter SPEAKING IN TONGUES (2) (Continued from Saturday, 26th October, 2013) QUESTION (edited): I have a sister, born again, devoted and ready to go all the way for the Lord, but she does not speak in tongues. Knowing the importance, she has been praying concerning it with scriptures, but it still has not stopped her from working for the Lord. My question is this: why cant she speak in tongues? MY RESPONSE Last night, I talked about the Spirit WITHIN and the Spirit UPON. I want to build on that this evening. If your friend is truly born again, she has the Spirit of God WITHIN her, bearing witness with her spirit that she is a son of God. That, however, is not enough. Joel 2:28 says: 28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit UPON all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 And also UPON the servants and UPON the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. (KJV) (Emphasis mine). Furthermore, Acts 1:8 says: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come UPON you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (KJV) (Emphasis mine) The foregoing scriptural quotations show that the outpouring of the Spirit of God UPON has radical (OVERT) results such as prophecy, dreaming, seeing visions and witnessing (evangelism). To sound a bit scientific, I would say that the outpouring of the Spirit UPON converts POTENTIAL energy into KINETIC energy. What your friend needs is the Spirit UPON. It is called the baptism of the Holy Spirit. As such, tomorrow, I will discuss how she can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. So, see you tomorrow, God willing and if Christ tarries. Bye.
