INSPIRATION: I received my wheelchair 2 months after the car - TopicsExpress

INSPIRATION: I received my wheelchair 2 months after the car accident and with too much pain to do anything, or so I thought. I gave up. I thought without my legs, what would become of my life. My 5yr old son cried for me almost every day. One day, I decided to go back to the gym, see what I could do, hence the wheelchair with tiny arms...it felt good! It was my meditation, my rehab for my mind. I was told that I would be in the wheelchair forever , but that wasnt good enough for me. As I was building my upper body strength, I was going to Dr after Dr, to find surgery. I had a cracked thigh bone and patella cartlidge, torn tendon and meniscus, thats just in my right leg. My left leg has patellar damage and my left hip was damaged. Well, after 4 tries, I found a Dr who wasnt settling for a wheelchair. Since my right knee took the brunt of the hit, we would do surgery on that one Web first. 2 surgeries later and got a total knee replacement. Got a Cortisone shot in my left side to manage the pain while I rehab my right. 2 surgeries down, 2 to go. Fitness gave me hope, gave me light, gave me strength. I am hoping to show someone who is in a wheelchair or similar situation that it is not the end. It just takes time and patience, be patient with yourself, go into your closest neighborhood fitness facility and go one step at a time. The encouragement and cheers I get from fellow Web gym members is amazing! Its my therapy, its my freedom,, its my strength, it will be for you too........I promise! Annemarie Norman - Sunnyvale, CA
