INSPIRATION... It is a strange thing. You never know when its going to hit, and when it does youre not quite sure that youve been hit by it. I had a moment like that today. I was going through some archived film files and a thought popped into my head. We at Kid Stuff Films had a two film series which was called the Alex Series. it contained Alex and the Book of Forgotten Tales and Alex and the Curse of Creep. These were and still are my favorite projects and I think some of our best work. It was a fun adventure story with the biggest twist being that it takes place inside a book but the main characters are normal kids from the real world. It was high adventure with Sky Pirates, Elves, Adventurers, Bounty Hunters, Flying Skeletons, Evil Overlords, Curses and heroes. It starred Aaron Rasch, Andrew Rasch, Christopher Paetz, Drake Sankovitch (Conor Chard), Annie Darkslade, Ramon Villaverde, Emalee Anderson, and several others. I had originally planned 3 in the series, but we never got to the third and most of the cast has grown up and moved on. Then I had a thought... The original plot involved a book written my a One time great adventure writer, William St. Clair as the Keeper of the Book says in the first film. So... How about a film about the author himself? How did me manage to write such a book with so many magical properties? How did he come up with his characters? How did he manage to find someone to be the Keeper? Originally I thought about making it just a guy who through personal experiences came up with these tales... Then I got inspired. No, Ill make the story about the author in his youth being directly involved with these adventures. He is a cabin boy on a sky ship commanded by a pirate. His captain, however, has been wrongfully accused of some heinous act and he is out seeking revenge on the sky captain that framed him. William winds up meeting versions of all the people who will eventually wind up in his book when he writes it. He deals with all kinds of high adventure before finally finding a home to write his memories of all he has seen. I dont have a synopsis yet, or even a working title, but this is going to be the biggest thing Kid Stuff Films has ever tried. I am hoping to find a good place to do on location shooting as well as a nice temporary (if necessary) studio location for what will be a lot of greenscreen. Ill be posting a Kickstarter page no doubt for this as I expect it will not be cheap to make. Also, I think Ill start a FB page with updates about the project. Ill post a link when I have one. If you have read this far, then hopefully you are feeling the same excitement for this project that I am. I am gong to need lots of cast for this, and I will need NEW cast as well. If you know of anyone between 7 and 17 who might be interested, PLEASE let me know. FAIR WINDS AND CLEAR SKIES TO YA!
