INSPIRING INCLUSIVE GROWTH FOR AFRICA. Thank God it’s a Monday, and it is my sincere hope that you had a PRODUCTIVE weekend and you are thus super-charged to ADD VALUE in your various civilizations towards attaining your family, organization, church and societal strategic goals and thus make this planet more habitable. I personally had a blessed and transformational Sunday church service, God willing the content of which I will post on this page in the near future. I thought I should briefly share with you growth propellers in Africa and how Africa can enter the value chain. It is my humble belief that you will see reason and as such lead change in your various civilizations in propelling sustainable growth at all levels of human civilization. The drivers are: a. Natural resource extraction-mining, agriculture and manufacturing sector growth. b. Innovative and creative entrepreneurship-SME sector growth. c. Take full advantage of globalization with your eyes peeled and looking through the right lenses. d. Good governance-family, corporate or political. e. Macro-economic stability f. Enhancement of distribution channels (spacial inclusion-road, rail, communication). The mobile telecomms industry is doing a great job in this regard. g. Functional and effective leadership. How do you define and measure the functionality and effectiveness of your leadership? h. Job creation especially among youths and women. How are you or your organization (the church included) performing in enhancing any of the above drivers? In light of the shift in the economic dynamics of our continent, does your organization support or have products that support any of the above drivers? In view of Africa’s resource abundance (human capital included), there is an urgent need for our organizations (church bodies included) in Africa to enter the value chain. How? a. Develop a focused and determined leadership at all levels-from self, to family right up to the highest leadership offices. b. Support indigenous SMEs-pushing entrepreneurship potential. The Indigenization and Economic Empowerment in Zimbabwe aims to achieve such but private sector support is essential as well. c. Skills training, development and retention at all levels. d. PrivatePublic sector integration. e. Promotion of moral values (Values Character Based Leadership) in our societies. f. Revival of the venture capital companies. Though commercial and merchant banks play a pivotal role in the economics of our nations, Africa needs a compliment from more development banks as compared to commercial banks which are driven by the market place mentality. My reference source in this regard is the AfDB Chief Economist- Dr Mthuli Ncube. Proudly Zimbabwean, Proudly African. May the love of God be with you always. Justine
