INSURGENCY AND THE HUGE NON-COMBATIVE CASUALTIES/COLLATERAL - TopicsExpress

INSURGENCY AND THE HUGE NON-COMBATIVE CASUALTIES/COLLATERAL DAMAGE.... Let me state that my radio silence was a demonstration of sobriety over the destruction of Baga and men of the Nigerian Military who have fought bravely and gallantly to defend the sanctity of the sovereignty of our great country Nigeria. As much as I try to refrain for delving into issues relating to national security, I find myself drawn into such discourse. INTRODUCTION: Let me start by saying that my assertion on the primary and secondary causes of the insurgency remains unchanged. I will always find the Presidency guilty of complicity, France, Chad and Cameroun. After the terrorist attack in France, the French President Francois Hollande while addressing his country highlighted the foreign policy of his administration in combating terrorism. He mentioned how France wanted to carry out a decisive action in Syria but was vetoed/voted out at the UN Security council. He mentioned efforts in Mali, Libya, Syria, Al-qeada and ISIS. He never mentioned Boko Haram and Nigeria. Is it not apparent the President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, his Service Chiefs and all his aides are deluding themselves that France means well for us as a nation? ANALYSIS: Once again, I insist that there is oil in Borno, Zamfara, Sokoto, and prospect of it in Gombe, Adamawa, and Yobe. Apart from the Oil which is of commercial quantity, during the administration of Late Umaru Yaradua, it was alleged he commissioned a South African exploration company to embark on extensive geographical survey of the North East. It was alleged that Uranium, Diamond, and some other solid minerals were reportedly found in commercial quantity. Baga to Gajigana with an approximated 90km distance between them, Maiduguri to Gajigana, with an approximated 40km and Maiduguri to Baga with an approximated 147km are vast dry land with huge oil deposit. Kukawa is said to be rich oil too. I believe due to the rich deposit of mineral resources, the Boko Haram activities was hijacked by all the vested interest which are foreign nations in a bid to access and explore the resources. They saw a fertile ground when the President played politics with national security.. Most towns captured are those which fall in the old Sardauna and of proven minerals deposits. Though going into full oil exploration of crude oil seem like an audacious one during their occupation, it is safe to say they can start the mining of Diamond and probably uranium while the occupation lasts.. The Service Chiefs and some top military brass are making a fortune from the insurgency. This is believed to be from Arms deal, and cost of operations/campaigns. There is a wild conjecture that some or all might be in the know of the illegal mining. There is a C-in-C who lacks the balls to confront them, a Presidency involved in the insurgency whether directly or indirectly by not taking a decisive actions to halt the insurgency. How could the President under 24hrs condemn the French attack but have not voiced a thing against the Baga occupation. How could a President not have the balls to confront Chad and could be hobnobbing with Ali Modu Sheriff? Arms and gears donated by US ends up with the insurgents... The hogwash of exoneration of sheriff by the DSS.. Now Chad wants to retake or recapture Baga from the insurgents. Things which doesnt add up are fast adding up. CONCLUSION: This has brought about the huge number of non-combative collateral casualties. The greed, the quest, the blood diamond, and oil prospect makes the high number of non-combative casualties inconsequential and this will continue until the reserves have been depleted. To sum up my conclusion, I see an attempt on Buharis life before the contest, during and after it if Buhari emerge the winner. This is validated by the death wish by Ayo Fayose for Gen. Buhari He might just be the high profile non-combative casualty/collateral damage. This might be a desperate measure to be adopted by players in this game just to keep business going or cover up. I guess this explains why they are engaged in all desperate campaign to discredit him with the certificate scandal, and heat up the polity. There might be two (2) more high profile non-combative collateral casualities. An attempt on two former leaders who refused to endorse or support the re-election of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is envisaged. RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Sack the Service Chiefs. 2. Sack the DG of the DSS and the Director of Publicity of the DSS. 3. Shut the borders with Chad and Cameroon. 4. Create a buffer zone/corridor along the occupied territory. 5. Combative engagement of insurgents with lethal force. The non-combative casualties/collateral damage wont be any different from what we are faced with. 6. The Presidency should do the needful... God Bless Nigeria.
