INTENTIONAL PRODUCT PLACEMENT?... Watching Cosmos with Neil - TopicsExpress

INTENTIONAL PRODUCT PLACEMENT?... Watching Cosmos with Neil Degrasse Tyson. Tyson is narrating the animated (and mildly embellished) story of Bruno Giordano... a former monk who evangelized the idea of an infinite universe. Right before commercial, Tyson summarizes the circumstances of this man who held and preached an idea no one else seemed to see or be aware of... something judged by everyone else to be his hallucination, if you will. I think it safe to assume that, under these conditions, Bruno MIGHT be a little depressed. He has a truth that nobody else believes or accepts, but is very real... to him. And he feels a desperate need to share this truth with everybody! Whats weird is where the program breaks for commercial. End of Cosmos segment... Tyson: But Bruno was not such a man. He couldnt keep his soaring vision of the cosmos to himself... despite the fact that, in his world, the penalty for doing so was the most vicious form of cruel and unusual punishment. (Fade out.) Beginning of commercial... (Fade up on a clearly troubled young woman sitting alone on a bed.) Announcer: If youre struggling with bi-polar depression, there are treatment options. Ask your doctor if once a day Latuda is right for you. The possible side effects can be summarized as might kill you and makes you question reality, as you perceive it, anyway. The good news is that if you dont die, youll be numb and calm! The woman featured in the commercial looks serene to the point of looking vacant. (So if Bruno were alive today... we wouldnt kill him. Too brutal! Wed medicate him with Latuda! Problem solved!) Yea science!
