INTERESTING CHOICE_3 MPs OUT OF 9 DITCH REBELLIOUS BITI Three MPs have reportedly already written to the MDC leadership begging to be pardoned for their involvement in the failed coup plot, which was led by the partys expelled former secretary general, Tendai Biti. MDC spokesman Douglas Mwonzora told this writer Wednesday afternoon that, in fact, seven rebel MPs had made requests verbally but were asked by the party to make written submissions. Information obtained through confidential sources shows that Willas Madzimure (Kambuzuma), Moses Manyengavana (Highfield East) and Bhekhithemba Nyathi (Mpopoma Pelandaba) have formally requested to be pardoned while offering to make confessions about their involvement in the rebellion. The submissions of Manyengavana, Madzimure and Nyathi were confirmed by top MDC sources. Two other rebel MPs, whose identities were not revealed, are said to have also put their requests in writing. Said Mwonzora, In fact, there are seven MPs who have come forward but we asked them to put their requests in writing. We will reveal the progress and developments soon. Efforts to obtain comment from Madzimure failed because his mobile phone was not answered. The other two MPs were not reachable. This writer has it on good authority that the MDC leadership is planning a press conference before end of this week to announce the return of rebel MPs. These developments come at a time the Biti camp is reportedly dogged by confusion and despair following the debacle of last Saturdays rally in Mutare, which was attended by only about 50 people. It is increasingly emerging that a crisis of expectation is haunting the Biti camp, whose leaders had moved around claiming to have the backing of more than 40 MPs out of the partys 91. Only nine confirmed their support for the rebellion and were immediately plunged into trouble as the MDC national council dismissed them and the leadership wrote to parliament to recall them. It appears there is realisation and admission by the rebel MPs that Bitis promise to protect them will not materialise
