INTERESTING CONVERSATION WITH A FRIEND JUST RELEASED FROM PRISON after 28 years of incarceration. Linda was released on March 19th & has tried to contact me via an old phone #. I received a card yesterday with her phone # & after a pretty much sleepless night, I decided to call her this morning. Today she was in Marina Del Rey having spent the night with a Rabbi & her husband who have helped Linda the last 7 years as well as many other inmates. Other religious groups have done the same thing for her. I learned many things today regarding being paroled & some of her observations I found interesting. She mentioned her brother took her out to eat (she is living with him & his family in Arcadia) & she said silverware is quite heavy & for obvious reasons after using plastic for all those years. She has to report to a parole officer twice a month in Van Nuys. She cannot go further than 50 miles from her residence & not be away longer than 48 hours from Arcadia. She said it took over a week to get over not asking to use the restroom. Interesting to me is that she said she has a lack of curiosity, which I didnt understand but will follow up tomorrow. Her brother got her the easiest cell phone he could find for her & since her minutes were precious to her, we will talk tomorrow on his home phone. I intend to see her & go out to lunch. I have forgiven her & although forgiveness doesnt mean reconciliation, I will meet with her & see where we go from there. A lot of memories surfaced during the night, like my two days on the stand as a prosecution witness, being wired by the police & meeting with her at Clancys Crab Broiler in Glendale, like being scared to go home as I was a key prosecution witness on the embezzlement charges..... yeah, was a scary time in early, 1984. I should have written a book, good as any crime story on tv. :) :) :)
