INTERLIBRARY LOANS SERVICE / PRÊT ENTRE BIBLIOTHÈQUES LE FRANÇAIS SUIT Dear historian, researcher and Library and Archives Canada Clients, As you know, LAC cancelled its Interlibrary Loan Service in December 2012. LAC officials justified their decision by stating that demand for the service had decreased by 75 per cent in the last 12 years. They also maintain that increased digitisation of documents at LAC has made the service redundant. CHA representatives will be meeting with LAC officials on September 16, 2013 to discuss the impact that the elimination of this program has had on historical research. Have you used the Interlibrary Loans service provided by Library and Archives Canada in the past? Did its elimination have an impact on your research? The Canadian Historical Association would like to know.
