INTERNAL SPLITS REVEAL DEEP TROUBLE IN THE NO CAMPAIGN Reports of internal divisions in the anti-independence campaign following Ed Miliband’s visit to Scotland have lifted the lid on a campaign in trouble. Today’s Telegraph makes clear that Ed Miliband broke promises to Alistair Darling not to seize upon comments by Ruth Davidson, undermining his leadership of the campaign at a time when polls show increasing numbers of people - including huge numbers of Labour supporters – are backing a Yes vote. The latest opinion poll for YouGov found that support for a Yes vote amongst people who voted Labour in 2011 has surged to 30 per cent, compared to 18 per cent in a previous YouGov poll last month. Commenting, SNP MSP Derek Mackay said: “As the polls show a surge in support for a Yes vote, it is clear that all is far from well in the anti-independence camp. “This internal sniping is a clear sign of a campaign in deep trouble and the reports that Alistair Darling’s leadership is being defied can only widen those rifts. “While the No campaign is expending its energy on internal feuds, the Yes campaign has been buoyed by the positive momentum of ever greater numbers of people waking up to the opportunity that a Yes vote represents. “A Yes vote is our one opportunity to secure the tools we need to fully protect our NHS, transform childcare provision and make Scotland a fairer country - which is why members of a major trade union and increasing numbers of Labour voters have all made clear that they are voting Yes in recent days.”
