INTERSTELLAR may just be the most frustrating and disappointing - TopicsExpress

INTERSTELLAR may just be the most frustrating and disappointing moviegoing experience Ive ever had. No doubt handsomely made, with some powerhouse filmmaking on display, the film utterly fails to live up to the promise of letting an audience truly understand the incredible concepts presented. Many will be lost, scratching their heads, not understanding where exactly they are or where theyre going. For this reason, the plotting remains murky and confusing, leaving the film utterly devoid of any awe and wonder about the universe. Jonathan Nolans original draft, once to be directed by Stephen Spielberg, contained all of these things, much more along the lines of modern, hard, literary sci-fi, such as the work of author Stephen Baxter and his MANIFOLD trilogy. Unfortunately, director Christopher Nolan, probably as a result of where he is in his own life, turned the script into a story far more concerned with a fathers guilt over abandoning his daughter, instead of broadening the human experience and understanding of the cosmos. The film finds more wonder on a childs bookshelf than in the universe itself. For some, perhaps thats valuable. For me, Ill keep looking up to the heavens in wonder and waiting for a movie which does the same.
