[INTERVIEW/ARTICLE] Lee Hi answers your questions! on Teenage magazine, August issue. How is it like working under YG Entertainment? (Innah Salinah) Working under YG Entertainment is great. I decided to be a member without hesitation and it was the best decision I have ever made. The label knows what kind of music suits my voice best. Here, people call me ‘Mak-Nae’, which means the youngest (among YG artist). I love this nickname so much that I even thought if being ‘Mak-Nae’ forever at YG Entertainment. Everyone here takes good care of me and I always appreciate it. Which senior do you look up to in your company and why? (Aleena Goh) It is hard to pick just one. I love how every single senior at YG has his/her own color. How do you train your soulful voice? (Sabrina Rosli) One of the greatest things about YG Entertainment is its training system. (The company) believes that each artist must have his/her own color, like everyone else their own character. So, YG’s training system focuses on what I’m good at and how can I improve. Have you always wanted to be a singer? (Sandy Hsu) Since I was around 5th grade at elementary school, I have dreamed of becoming a singer. I think I must have been influenced by my older sis, who studied vocal music. Singing along with my sister was my daily routine. Also, my father likes singing, too. Thanks to my sister, I was exposed to various genre of music, especially Jazz, Blues and R&B. You’re still 16, so do you still go to school and how do you balance your career with your academic life? (Yun Love Yoseob) I still go to school, but not every day. I go if there is a special occasion. Because my school is a performing arts high school, I think what I learn at YG covers pretty much of what I would learn (in class). How do you handle the stress of your career as you are still young? (HongRan JewelFish) Since I was a little kid, I’ve loved singing and drawing. Well, most of (my) drawings are close to doodling. I want to continue that while pursuing a careeras a singer. Drawing and doodling always works for me and is a great stress reliever. Someday, I want to use my own (artwork) for my album cover, if given the chance. If given the chance, would you include more dance choreography in your songs? (Chu Ying) To be honest, dancing is not easy for me. But it’s absolutely necessary for a great performance. When I sing a ballad, appropriate choreography and expression should be followed. Still, it’s difficult for me to dance well. But I think if I manage to handle challenging choreography perfectly, that’ll be more awkward. I think my clumsiness can be attractive or I hope so…? Your music video concepts are very unique. Where do you get inspiration from? (Cheryl Sun) I get a lot of help from the YG stylist. She often provides me with inspiration for the MV. In order to set up right concepts for my age, I listen to her advice carefully. What would you consider your biggest accomplishment and improvement since you entered ‘K-Pop Star’? (Leanne Tan) My biggest accomplishment is debuting as a singer. I think trying a new and different style can be the improvement I have made since K-Pop Star. Who would you like to collaborate with and why? (Nurlisaya Suwandi) I would like to collaborate with Primary, because I just like his songs. Will you come to Singapore for a visit? You have lots of supporters here. (Evelyn Ang) If given the chance, I definitely want to visit Singapore. I am so thankful to fans in Singapore for supporting me regardless of distance!
