INTO THE GAS CHAMBER--Members of the 24th MEU Command Element spent yesterday morning conducting CBRN-D training, which culminated with a trip inside the gas chamber. The purpose of the training was to validate the functionality of the Marines gas mask as well as a refresher on the procedures for wearing the equipment and donning and clearing the mask. The Marine Corps uses CS gas in the chamber, a non-lethal aerosol commonly known as tear gas and used as a riot-control agent in the civilian world. The training was conducted and supervised by the MEUs own organic team of CBRN-D (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear-defense) Marines.
