INTO THE WILD (2007): I will not mind if you have missed this movie for your are not a movie lover kind of person but I would call it a cardinal sin if have missed this one despite being a movie buff. Its not just another movie but an experience with existential literature based cinema. Based on the true story of Christopher McCandless who left his home just when he could have a better career and a better life, just to understand what life is for, Into the Wild takes you to a journey whereby every phase of his life has some lessons to teach. And the good thing is that Emile Hirsch does absolute justice to his role. He looks jovial yet lost in his questions he wants to find answers for.Though he warns one of his friends against seeking happiness in human relationships and also rails incoherently against the evils of “society”, the protagonist is also naturally sociable creature and that is where lies the greatest paradox that the movie tries to deal with. Cinematography by Motorcycle Diaries fame Eric Gautier is mesmerizing and he captures all the scenes naturally without any trace of superficial enhancement of the features. The Best part is that visuals are complemented beautifully by the background score and also the songs that are in plenty, most of them sung beautifully by Eddie Vedder. The song Society perfectly captures the essence of the movie. Credit also goes to the Editor for weaving all different aspects of movie into a single thread so immaculately that makes it one of the finest movies made by the Hollywood. Written, screenplayed and directed by Sean Penn, this one is something NOT TO BE MISSED. AWESOME WATCH. RATING: 4.5/5
