INTO THE WOODS movie review for actors who have acted in the musical. This is intended to give a basic breakdown as to what songs and scenes have changed from musical to movie. First, the part of narrator/mysterious man has been eliminated from the movie. There is a narrator, but is not involved as an actor. Except for scenes involving the mysterious old man, act one is mostly intact. Finale act one is only heard as background music, and moves quickly into Act 2. Many songs and most dialogue that would be normally be heard for the first 15 minutes of Act two have been deleted, since most of that re-introduces the characters after intermission. Mostly picks up with the scene depicting Jacks mother yelling at the lady giant. Major song deletions in Act Two are act two prologue, Agony reprise, and No More, even though Jacks father does appear to feed dialogue. You can hear the instrumental of No More underneath the spoken word. Act two finale is heard with actors singing under the first set of closing tiles (cast). A wonderful instrumental version of Last Midnight is heard over the remainder of the closing titles. Overall, I think this is the best version of a Broadway show to film that I have seen produced in the last 20 years. Stays very true to the original vision from Broadway
