INTRO: Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism leaders gave the chiefs and soldiers of the Lao Peoples Army their best wishes on Friday in recognition of the forces 65th anniversary. STORY: The ministry delegation was led by the Minister himself, Professor Dr Bosengkham Vong dara, along with Deputy Ministers Savankhone Razmounty and Chaleun Warinthrasak. Over the past week the Ministry of National Defences chiefs and soldiers have visited present and former Party and state leaders, wishing them well and presenting them with gifts. Deputy Minister of National Defence, Major General Sengnouan Xayalath, and his delegation visited Vice President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachit earlier this month and presented him with a basket of flowers. Later the same day at 7pm, a visiting army troupe from Vietnam were invited to perform for Lao people at the National Culture Hall. The next morning Major General Souphet Phayvichit gave his best wishes to former President of the National Assembly, Samane Vinhaket. Then the Deputy Prime Minister Lieutenant General Douangchay Phichit, who is also the Minister of National Defence, flew with military chiefs to Champassak province to bestow good wishes on former President of Laos Khamtay Siphandone. On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Thongloun Sisoulith visited the 489 Centre for Disabled People in Vientiane, which cares for wounded soldiers, to wish the patients good health and present them with gifts. Deputy Prime Minister, Asang Laoly visited many retired soldiers living in the Houaymakphik allocation area of Vientiane on Wednesday and said he was delighted to see them still working diligently to improve the lives of their extended families. During his tour he met with 88 retired soldiers living in Houaymakphik to discuss the legacy of the Lao Peoples Army and present donations of money and gifts to the former fighters. On Thursday morning, Party Secretary General and President of Laos, Choummaly Sayasone, along with Party and state leaders, watched a parade of marching soldiers in Vientiane to mark the 65th anniversary. Before these events a caravan of around 50 cars carrying over 270 people visited Xieng Khuang and Huaphan provinces to mark the armed forces anniversary, organised by the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.
