IRON SOUP BOARD OF DIRECTORS – 2014 Timothy G. Sokoloff, President In 2010 Mr. Sokoloff founded the Non Profit, Iron Soup Historical Preservation Company. He was formerly the Chief Information’s Officer of the New TV a.k.a “The Youngstown Channel”, an internet start up that worked closely with the Mahoning County Commissioners, City Councils of all Mahoning County, and the City of Youngstown directly to produce media and web cast it for the first time in the world. This created awareness on how local and state government works and promoted the community and positive events within it. Tim has been interviewed on the Youngstown Channel 33 as an expert in wireless internet and internet services. He has also been called upon by various County attorneys to serve as an expert witness for litigation involving the internet and websites. Gerry Gunn, Vice President Mr. Gunn holds an Engineering Degree from the University of Baguio in the Philippines, later he served in the US Navy as an Aircraft Mechanic. Not only is Gerry a Historical Restoration Specialist and Consultant he is also an expert in Sustainable Environmental Technologies. He is currently restoring a Historical Home beside the Old Post Office a.k.a “The Village Pantry” on South Main Street in Poland. April Caruso Richards, Board Secretary Mrs. Richards is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Youngstown State University. She earned her B.A. in History with a certification on Historic Preservation and a Minor in Professional Writing and Editing. The then went on to earn her Master’s Degree in History with a Concentration in Museum Studies. Her professional experience includes Oral History Transcription, Event Coordinator, Contract Historian she also worked in the Archives/Library inventorying and creating finding aids for Youngstown Sheet and Tube, Brier Hill Works and Woodside Hospital artifacts. She is the recipient of numerous Honors and Awards, far too many to mention, likewise for member organizations and Honor Societies. She has commandeered higher education workshops, quest presentations and conferences. Her Volunteer and Public Services include Red Cross, Tutoring and Toys for Tots, Austintown Lions Club, Hurricane Katrina Relief and the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley. Diane Marie Ornelas, Board Treasurer Ms. Ornelas Graduated from Youngstown State University and Williamson College of Business Administration. She earned a Major in Accounting. She has over ten years of Accounting and bookkeeping experience, she currently works for Primus Medical in Boardman. Linda L. Gens, Executive Director, Board Member Ms. Gens is originally from Meadville, Pennsylvania. She was the owner and co-founder of two successful businesses for over ten years. During this time, she was often a guest speaker and/or Master of Ceremonies for varies events and meetings. She was an invited guest on WMGW Morning Radio and her Automotive Service Center business was selected to host a major contest in Northwestern PA. In 2006 Ms. Gens graduated Cum laude from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography. In 2010 she earned a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Salve Regina University in Newport Rhode Island. Prior to joining Iron Soup Historical Preservation Company, she volunteered for the Refugee Ministry Program at Catholic Charities of the Erie Diocese in Pennsylvania. William Kish, Community Relations Director, Board Member Mr. Kish has lived in the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company Homes his entire life. He currently owns 10 occupied units within the complex and he is well known for his perfectly maintained and aesthetically pleasing apartments. Mr. Kish graduated from Campbell High school in 1977 and enrolled in Youngstown State University where he earned a BS in Applied Science in 1984, an MS in Mental Health Counseling in 1986, and a BS in Education in 1987 and in 1992 an MS in Secondary Education. Mr. Kish taught in the Youngstown City School System and holds a Secondary Level Teaching Certification. Dr. Donna DeBlasio PhD, Historian, Board Member PhD, Professor of History and Director of the Center for Applied History. Dr. DeBlasios research areas include worker housing and working-class leisure. She is the co-author of Catching Stories: A Practical Guide to Oral History as well as several Arcadia histories: Youngstown State University: From YoCo to YSU (with Martha I. Pallante) and Youngstown: Postcards From the Steel City. Her most recent article is Youngstowns Idora Park: Building a Fantasyland in an Industrial Landscape (Ohio History, Spring, 2010). Rick Rowlands, Historic Restoration Specialist, Board Member President and Founder of Youngstown Steel Heritage Foundation, todengine.org/, a nonprofit is dedicated to preserving the Steel Heritage of Mahoning, Shenango and Ohio River valleys of OH, PA and WV. Not only has Rick and other members of this organization gathered and painstakingly preserved historically significant steelmaking equipment, on many pieces functionality has also been restored. Together with his wife, Rick is a life -long resident of the Mahoning Valley and has lent countless hours in historical preservation. He has been a member of the ISHPC Board of Directors since November of 2012. Ron Eiselstein, Operations Advisor, Board Member Mr. Eiselstein is President of the Yellow Creek Theatre, and Outdoor Theatre, founded in 2004 whereby movies are projected on the Bridge on 224 over Yellow Creek in nearby Poland. This Theatre has helped transform the community by bringing visitors and outside funds into the area. Ron designed the stunning brick and stone walkway leading to the theatre and the natural in ground Amphitheatre that seat 500 people. He and his wife Joann contributed to and raised the funds to see it all to fruition. Together they have also reclaimed the original historic post office in Poland. It is now called the Village Pantry - an old time concept general store. He is also a partner in Ohio Land Management Company and Fire Pearl Group; in combination these companies acquire and rehabilitate blighted properties in Mahoning County. In his spare time Ron is one of the top bloggers on gomarcellusshale/ His advice, donations, and hands on help here at ISHPC have been invaluable. Mark McGrail, Business Development Liaison, Board Member Mr. McGrail holds a Bachelors Degree in History and has held several self employed positions in the Oil and Gas industry over the past 25 years. These include Sales, Field Superintendent and Landman. He resides in Lordstown Ohio and is married with six children. Mark is currently working closely with the Mahoning County Land Bank to expedite getting blighted properties into the hands of organizations such as ISHPC and private sectors that will take care of them responsibly. Tim O’Bryan, Genealogy Specialist, Board Member Mr. O’Bryan holds an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Information Technology: Computer Network Systems from ITT Technical Institute. He is a Genealogy Research Specialist successfully tracing the histories of some 18,000 families in numerous countries. Tim has also designed and implemented a website for searching his wealth of information. Tim is also the Author of “Barefeet in the Sand” available for Kindle on Amazon. He and his family has been longtime resident of the City of Campbell.
