IS LIBERTARIANISM RIGHT-WING? No, of course not. Libertarianism - TopicsExpress

IS LIBERTARIANISM RIGHT-WING? No, of course not. Libertarianism is neither right-wing nor left-wing. Recently a lot of people on the political right have been insisting that it is. Following is my explanation. If you are old enough to remember the 1960s-70s you may recall hearing of the new left. It was an attempt to clean up the history of left-wing politics and basically put blame to all things bad onto the right-wingers. It didnt work, except for the left-wingers. Today, we are witnessing the new right, trying to accomplish the same thing, to clean up its bad history, even to the point of placing fascism as a leftist philosophy. New political line charts are being made by the right, attempting to place the right just behind libertarianism and total liberty (see #1 on photo). On the photo below #1 shows the new right line-graph. It shows libertarianism as a right-wing philosophy. Note that the locations on their line-chart are separated by the political right and left-wing. On the photo below #2 shows a correct line-graph. In looking at it, the political right may still incorrectly view libertarianism as a right-wing entity. The difference between line-graph #1 and line-graph #2, is that the latter is not showing the line in a left-wing to right-wing progression as many right-wingers may believe it does. Because of the left-wing to right-wing pattern, line-graph #1 cannot be reversed, whereas line-graph #2 can be reversed, and retain the same information (see line-graph #3).
