IS NKANA MOPANIS FAVORITE CLUB? Zambias current biggest teams in terms of fanbase are Nkana FC and secondly Mufulira Wanderers. Nkana FC is Zambias record breaking league champions with 12 titles while Wanderers have won the most Cups with over 30 trophies. The two have always been rivals so it would surprise many that both teams have the same sponsors in Mopani Copper Mines. Both teams have always had a difference in approach to football, Nkana have always played direct football with Powerful forwards while Wanderers have always played the most attractive football with exciting midfielders and wingers. While Nkana historically relied on players from its Ajax academy and also getting upcoming players from other teams Wanderers have almost always relied on homegrown talent. Both teams got demoted in the 2000s due to Mopani not funding the teams. But while Mopani resumed funding of Nkana when the team improved in 2010, Wanderers funds from Mopani have not been consistent. This has led to Wanderers fans accusing Mopani of taking sides instead of treating the teams equally. Wanderers fans have also said that Mopani should spend more on Wanderers since the Mufulira mine makes more money for Mopani than the Nkana mines. Mopani recently stated that they will also add sponsorship of Nkana Fcs Under 16 side. Nkana have already began planning for players which include a number of foreigners while Wanderers have yet to begin transfers. It remains to be seen if Mopani are really taking sides or there is another measure they use on how to sponsor both clubs. Question Is Nkana Mopanis favourite club?
