ISAC – HAMPSHIRE LEAGUE – 2014 ROUND 6 – MATCH REPORT ISAC hosted round 6 of the Hampshire League at Browndown Beach, Gosport from 7pm until midnight on Saturday 28th June 2014. High water at 01:13 was set at 4.5m. Pegs were laid out in two zones from the Beach Huts in Stokes Bay peg 1 up to the 3rd shingle mound on Browndown peg 69. Light rain at the start of the match quickly passed leaving a clear and calm night. The match also incorporated an Armed Forces Day Team v Civvies - Challenge Cup competition with all three armed services represented on the night. The result was a white wash for the Civvies who enjoyed a tot of rum after the match. 46 anglers booked in for the match with 30 recording 62 fish at the scales for a total match weight of 68lb 2ozs, 30.902kg represented by 13 Bass, 2 Black Bream, 15 Dogfish, 1 Flounder, 8 Gurnard, 3 Pouting, 2 Silver Eel, 15 Smoothhound and 3 Whiting. £595 was paid out in 13 cash awards on the night raising the grand total for the year up to £5,465 after 6 events. INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION Winner of the match was MATT BROOK from Sandown on the Isle of Wight who recorded the top match weight of 13lb 10½ozs, 6.194kg, from peg 1 in zone A represented by 2 Bass, 1 Gurnard and 5 Smoothhound including the HFOTM, a 86cm measure and returned fish of 4lb 12ozs, 2.154kg. This was Matt’s first ISAC victory and won him top cash prize of £127.50 with the r6 ISAC Match Winners trophy and certificate. Runner-Up in the match was England No 1 DARREN NEWLAND from Lake on the Isle of Wight who won zone B from peg 36 placed near the concrete mushroom on Browndown with a total weight of 9lb 11ozs, 4.394kg represented by a 1 Dogfish and 2 Smoothhound winning him a £100 cash prize. Honiton angler BEN BRADSTOCK took 3rd place in the match from peg 14 in zone A with a total weight of 7lb 9½ozs, 3.444kg represented by 2 Bass, 1 Pouting, Silver Eel and Smoothhound winning him £70. SEA ANGLER MAGAZINE – PENN SEA LEAGUE The top points on weight will be awarded to MATT BROOK, DARREN NEWLAND and BEN BRADSTOCK. Matt and DARREN WILSON both landed Smoothhound of 4lb 12ozs and should pick up bonus points for landing the HFOTM.
