ISAIAH 52:7 DELIVERANCE FOR JERUSALEM 7. How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel* reigns! ISAIAH 55:10-11 INVITATION TO THE LORDs SALVATION 10.The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. If I warn the wicked, saying, You are under the penalty of death,but you fail to deliver the warning, they will die in their sins. And I will hold you responsible for their deaths. 19. If you warn them and they refuse to repent and keep on sinning, they will die in their sins. But you will have saved yourself because you obeyed me. MATTHEW 5:14-16 TEACHING ABOUT THE SALT AND LIGHT 14.You are the light of the world - like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. MATTHEW 28:16-20 THE GREAT COMMISSION 16. Then the ekeven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17. When they saw him, they worshiped him - but some of them doubted! 18. Jesus came and told his disciples, I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,* baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. LUKE 12:8-9 A WARNING AGAINST HYPOCRISY 8. I tell you the truth, everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, the Son of Man* will also acknowledge in the presence of Gods angels. 9. But anyone who denies me here on earth will be denied before Gods angels ACTS 1:8 THE ASCENSION OF JESUS 8. But you will recieve power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere - in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. 1 CORINTHIANS 3:5-9 PAUL AND APOLLOS, SERVANTS OF CHRIST 5. After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only Gods servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. 6. I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. 7. Its not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. Whats important is that God makes the seed grow. 8. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. 9. For we are both Gods workers. And you are Gods field. You are Gods building. 2 CORINTHIANS 5:18-21 WE ARE GODs AMBASSADORS 18. And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 21. For God was in Christ, reconciling in the world to himself, no longer counting peoples sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20. So we are Christs ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, Come back to God! 21. For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin,* so that we could be made right with God through Christ. 1 PETER 3:15 SUFFERING FOR DOING GOOD 15. Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of you life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.
