ISIS executes muncipal workers in Salah Al Din By Falah Alwan, President, Federation of Workers Councils and Unions in Iraq (FWCUI) In the first week of August , ISIS gangs in the city of Tikrit committed an outrageous crime against public sanitation workers in Tikrit. ISIS thugs abducted eight workers who had protested against the organizations arbitrary policies towards them, leading them blindfolded to an unknown location. After a whole month of searching; their families found eight dead bodies totally decomposed and hidden in a well. They were not even able to identify their faces. The municipal sanitation workers started their confrontation with ISIS when they refused to work because they had not been paid for two months. They followed that with protest statements when a hidden land mine killed one of their colleagues (Samir Mizher). ISIS didn’t make any effort to dismantle mines in the city streets. ISIS forced workers to work without pay, and when they demanded their entitlements, ISIS gathered more than 40 workers at the main parade park in Tikrit and gave a speech , requesting them to go back to work, and made a bunch of promises. Eight workers left this event and publicly expressed their frustration for the unjust treatment they were suffering under ISIS. Immediately, a group of ISIS members arrested them and took them to an unknown location. The names of the eight vistims are: Riadh Mohammed Hasan, Abdullah Wasmi Abbas, Nadhim Abdul Khaliq Saad, Ali Khalifa Sa’adan, Murad Yousef Abd Rabbeh, Ahmed Khalaf Jessam, Waleed Jasim Rameedh, and Tariq Abdul Jabbar Ahmed. The heroic action of those workers to confront ISIS has cost them their lives, but the voice of civilian workers is rising in the face of heavily armed ISIS gangs, and it will shake the ground under the feet of those brutal gangs that never imagined that unarmed workers could experience their oppressive domination , yet loudly say NO to them. A big salute , associated with grief, pain, and rage , to this heroic action by eight workers who have paid with their lives for their principles. This is a turning point that will trigger the flame for a broad public confrontation that will surely kick ISIS to the trash bin of history where it belongs, with all its behaviors, crimes and disrespect. Workers will arm themselves, and won’t be an easy catch for the ruthless ISIS gangs, in spite of all their arms, guns and axes with which they aim to intimidate the public, by beheading their opponents in public. Just as people have defeated ISIS in Amerly, Kubani and Dhulo’yya, they will also defeat them in Mosul and Tikrit, and the blood of Tikrit workers will not have been given for no reason. Down to ISIS and its crimes and terrorism. Salutes to those who sacrificed their lives in a confrontation with ISIS gangs, and all other terrorist groups. FWCUI / 22nd October, 2014
