ISIS seems rather unintelligent or at least two dimensional when it comes to strategy. Im not the smartest guy on the planet, but last time an Islamic extremist group rattled the cages of the West, we lost a couple thousand Westerners versus hundreds of thousands of Middle Eastern lives (and its still rising). Statistically, not the best way to grow your religion. Does this mean one Western life is worth a 100 to a thousand Muslim lives? If so, ISIS (and others) logic is flawed to profess religious superiority if you basically tell the world that Muslim lives mean so little. It will only escalate - and rightly so - the West, like it or not, holds all the cards. All we need is a reason to compromise our morals - - think Pearl Harbor to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We compromised our morals to end the war as soon as possible to save lives in the long run (debatable, but it happened). No, this is not about religion, it never has been in the past, it never will be. This is about power and control. I dont think the ISIS leadership or anyone else in that confederation of terrorists gives a shit about Islam, only power. Which is why they are so willing to let hundreds of thousands of innocent Muslims die to consolidate and hold onto what power they think they have. It is the worst of human nature and it is on the worlds center stage. No one says the obvious, but everyone can agree that the only way to truly stop these terrorists is to overwhelm them and bomb them back to the stone age, or turn northern Iraq and southern Syria into a sheet of glass. Anything less only strengthens the movement and does little to counter the rise of Islamic religious extremism. It is sad, really. So much effort put into destruction that could be put into making our world and societies better.
