ISKA European Open includes Sanda for the first time The ISKA European Open Amateur Championships to be staged in Pescara, Italy 23rd to 26th October 2014 will for the first time include the Chinese Martial Art and Combat Sport Sanda. Sanda is a Chinese hand-to hand self-defense system and combat sport developed by the Chinese Military in the mid 1920’s. It is considered as one of the two components of Chinese Wushu. The emphasis of Sanshou/Sanda is on realistic fighting ability and builds power, speed, balance, and coordination. As an unarmed self-defense, close combat system, Sanda includes da (punches), ti (kicks), shuai (grappling), and na (throws, locks, chokes). Arguably the most famous Sanda exponent is former ISKA and Strikeforce MMA Champion Gung Le who now competes in the UFC recently headlining UFC Fight Night 48 in Macao, China. The ISKA European Championships 2014 is open to all competent competitive Martial Artists regardless of style or affiliations it doesn’t matter what federation you belong to you are welcome. Martial Artists young and old from around the globe are invited to compete in several disciplines on the Tatami including Semi-Contact, Light-Contact, K-1 Kick light, Kata/Forms and MMA.
