ISLAMABAD - The verbal duel between Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) has turned into legal battle, as JUI-F chief has finally received a strong worded legal notice and is preparing for tit-for-tat response. “JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman has received legal notice from PTI three days ago. The notice seeks unconditional apology from Maulana Fazl for making statements which have tarnished the image of Imran Khan,” sources in JUI-F shared with The Nation. The JUI-F, sources said, on receiving a strong worded notice has started preparing response with the help of its legal team. The JUI-F’s legal team will take some weeks to give response or find ways to challenge it. When contacted, JUI-F’s spokesman Jan Achakzai confirmed that JUI-F chief has received legal notice from PTI. “Our legal team will take around two weeks to examine its nature of objections,” said JUI-F spokesman, adding that the legal team will examine all pros and cons of the letter. It would not be out of place to mention here that the second largest opposition party in National Assembly, PTI, had issued legal notice with the threat to file a defamation lawsuit worth Rs 500 million if unconditional apology is not tendered. Sources said that Maualna Fazlur Rahman in a private channel interview accused PTI’s chief Imran Khan of having foreign agenda backed by some lobby. It was also reported that in the notice it was also mentioned that apology should also be telecast and printed in media. It is relevant to mention here that verbal fight between JUI-F and PTI has been continued for a couple of months and quite recently Maulana had even dropped a hint to end PTI’s government in not more than two months. It has also been reported that JUI-F had twice tried to convince Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to support it in toppling the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). However, the PM had not given nod to JUI-F in this regard. The sources said that the JUI-F chief in his previous meetings with Nawaz Sharif drew his attention towards weak points of the PTI government like jailbreak in Dera Ismail Khan.
