The special committee, headed by Central Senior Vice President Amir Mehmood Kayani, has been assigned to immediately reach out to the flood-hit areas and rescue the affectees and mitigate their sufferings. Imran also advised the committee to provide relief material to the victims and help people move to safer localities. Zahid Hussain Kazmi, Sadaqat Abbasi, Raja Rashid Hafeez, Ijaz Khan Jazi, Arif Abbasi, Asif Mehmood, Ejaz Rafee Butt, Tariq Mehmood Kayani, Shahid Gilani, Naveed Kayani, Chaudhry Zubair, Imran Hayat, Qazi Dost Muhammad Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan and Chaudhry Asghar are other members of the special committee. Meanwhile, on the 66th anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence Day, Imran Khan promised to the nation and stated that ‘we can drive country out of multi-faceted crises jointly.’In his message to the nation on the eve of August 14, Imran called terrorism and skyrocketing inflation two major problems that are undermining country’s social and economic system. “The rich are becoming richer and the poor more deprived due to economic inequality and soaring inflation,” he said and proposed to join hands to combat issues like high inflation and terrorism. He added every problem could be solved once all were on the same page. About terrorism, he said that the war waged from outside could be ended through a joint strategy and expressed hope to prepare it shortly. “Economic disparity is the second largest problem of the country that cannot be handled without halting tax collection through price hike,” Chairman PTI maintained. “A huge number of the rich evade taxes in Pakistan, who must be forced to pay taxes to bring down inflation,” he observed. PTI Information Secretary Dr Shireen Mazari condemned the continuing Indian aggression in the form of firing across the LoC and the international border with Pakistan. She said in a statement that this continuous unprovoked firing by Indian forces was a dangerous game of brinkmanship being played by India, which could lead to disastrous consequences. She also expressed regret that the PML-N government has chosen the path of appeasement that has made the Indians increase their bellicosity. Dr Mazari expressed shock at the ransacking of PIA Delhi office and the threats hurled at the PIA Mumbai office. These attacks follow the storming of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi by Indian protestors. Dr Mazari noted the Indian government was hell-bent on a path of conflict with Pakistan and she called on the Pakistan government to stop its one-sided overtures to India simply to please the vested interests of some members of Pakistan’s business community. “Peace and detente have to be through mutuality of interests and desire. Otherwise it is simply appeasement which will bring neither conflict resolution nor peace to the region,” she concluded.
