ISLAMIC GUIDELINES THROUGHOUT THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON: (1) Allah bears no son neither was He born. Q112:3 says: “He begets not, nor was He begotten.” (2) Avoid celebrating christmas for you will also have disbelieved the Islamic Monotheism. The Prophet S.A.W said, “Whoever imitates a group of people is one of them.” [Swahih Bukhari]. Yet the Prophet S.A.W fought for 13 years for people to understand only the Oneness of Allah. (3) Avoid participating in matters meant to promote polytheism, e.g exchanging christmas gifts, wishing them merry Christmas, organising christmas parties with them, etc, as Allah says: “O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the christians as Auliya’ (friends, protectors, helpers) just as they are to each other. And if any amongst you takes them as Auliya’, then surely he is one of them. Verily, Allah guides not those people who are the polytheists, wrong-doers and unjust.” [Q5:51]. (4) We should not interfere with Christians’ rites of worship or express our total disgust about it but rather show unconcern by distinguishing ourselves from them by word and deed wherever and in whatever form it may be, as Allah advised us to say to them: “To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islamic Monotheism) .” [109:6]. (5) Jesus already declared his denial from their disbelief and identified himself as a Muslim. Allay says: “Then when Issa (Jesus) came to know of their disbelief, he said, “Who will be my helpers in Allah’s Cause?” The disciples (Al-Hawariyyun)said: “We are the helpers of Allah, we believe in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims.” [Q3:52]. (6) Jesus was not God nor son of God but a Prophet, “And when Issa (Jesus) came with our clear proofs, he said: “I have come to you with Prophethood, and in order to make clear to you some of the points in which you differ. Therefore fear Allah and obey me. Verily, Allah! He is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him (Alone). This is the (only) Straight Path. But the sects from among themselves differed. So warn those who do wrong (by ascribing things to Jesus that are not true) from the painful torment on the Day of Resurrection.” [Q43:63-65]. Allah again says: “And remember when Jesus, son of Mary, said: “O children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allah unto you, confirming the Taurat (Torah) which came before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad (Muhammad S.A.W). But when he (Muhammad S.A.W) came to them with clear proofs, they said: “This is plain magic.” [Q61:6]. MAY ALLAH KEEP US STEADFAST ON ISLAMIC MONOTHEISM. By Saiphullaaah. MA SALAAMU
