We invite applications for:- The IP/GPRS ENGINEER is responsible for technically managing and supporting the IP network. The Engineer also has responsibility for all core GPRS services including WAP, WEB, MMS and Blackberry and shall provide support for subscribers that utilize the GPRS/IP backbone. This person is required to have strong knowledge of all areas of the Network (WAN and LAN) and all data flows. MAIN RESPONSIBILTIES Continuously seeks and capitalizes on opportunities to exceed the expectations of customers (internal and external) by placing a keen interest on understanding and effectively resolving customer-impacting issues in a professional and result-oriented manner. Configuration of Cisco devices including switches and routers. Isolation of faults with the network equipment, LAN or WAN. Provide design, configuration, redistribution and troubleshooting of IP routing protocols such as OSPF, ISIS & BGP including Internet Peering and Traffic engineering. Produce reports on network health and key performance indicators. Ensure that adequate network security procedures are followed, implemented and enforced. This includes configuration of access lists and CheckPoint firewalls (VPN-1, GX, & VPN-1) and associated enforcement modules (Provider-1). Create and update high quality documentation of network devices upon change of configuration or design. Assist VoIP operations to troubleshoot and resolve problems. Manage public and internal IP address resources. Maintain IP network monitoring tools and processes such as SolarWinds. Support network moves, upgrades, and changes including hardware installation and network design. Work with roaming partners to configure and implement new GPRS roaming agreements. Provide support for GPRS roaming, Blackberry, Wap and MMS services. Must be able to maintain, support and configure Ericsson SGSN and GGSN GPRS network nodes. Computer and Electrical Engineering, Computer Science AND/OR Information Technology 2-5 years experience performing similar role / duties. CCNA qualifications will be considered an asset Experience in and with the mobile telecommunications sector would be considered a valuable asset. An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements. In-depth knowledge of Networking Architecture and OSI Model. Experience in the Design and documentation of Advance IP Networks Hands on experience integrating and maintaining network hardware including Cisco routers, switches & Checkpoint firewalls (VPN-1 & GX) & other products such as Provider-1 & Eventia Reporter. Configuration of Juniper M120 routers. Experience with protocols such as VLANs, HSRP, VRRP, MPLS, IPsec, GRE, PBR & NAT. Experience designing and configuring QoS – CBWFQ, LLQ, classification methods. Knowledge of and the ability to configure BIND DNS services. Experience configuring and troubleshooting VPN’s. Experience configuring and troubleshooting multiple types of network media (Fibre, STM- 1, E1/T1, Ethernet etc) Experience configuring and troubleshooting Network Management applications and protocols. Knowledge of IP address subnetting, address management & IP architecture. Knowledge of network and wireless protocols, with extensive understanding of 2 and 2.5G protocols (GSM, GPRS & EDGE etc). Understanding of SS7, GPRS signalling (GTP) and Sigtran protocols. Understanding of GPRS network elements such as Gb, Gn/p, Gi & Gr interfaces.
