ISLAND: TRINIDAD & TOBAGO EMPLOYER: DIGITEL FUNCTION: COMMUNICATIONS EXECUTIVE Description The Communications Executive will be responsible for creating, developing, implementing and overseeing a wide and diverse spectrum of related communications (internal and external) and initiatives that serve to effectively position and promote the organization and to integrate the organization into being a role model in the communities in which it operates. MAIN RESPONSIBILTIES a. Continuously seeks and capitalizes on opportunities to exceed the expectations of customers (internal and external) by placing a keen interest on understanding and effectively resolving customer-impacting issues in a professional and result-oriented manner. External: a. Manages and coordinates external interfaces on behalf of the Company including: communities, general public, special interest groups and the press. b. Responsible for developing detailed messages for target audiences and planning external communications events to execute agreed plan including speeches, media releases, corporate and literature. c. Designs, develops and executes community outreach programs independently and in conjunction with collaborators aimed at promoting Digicel (Trinidad and Tobago) Ltd. profile and relationships. d. Coordinates polls / solicits feedback from target audience; provides editorial and publishing services; produces, edits, and distributes special publications. e. Prepares speeches and assists with key messages for senior executives when presenting to the public. f. Manages in collaboration with the Communications Manager the relationship with the PR agency to ensure full execution of consumer, business to business and corporate PR campaigns and achieve maximum results. g. Archives daily news clippings and prepare coverage / evaluation reports Internal: 1. Develops an in-depth understanding and awareness of the internal communications needs of the organization and assists with the development of an internal communications strategy and plan for Digicel designed to equip employees with timely and relevant information consistent with the Company’s values. 2. Assists in creating an employee-centric communication strategy that reflects the Digicel tone/personality and, as appropriate, aligns with the Digicel Mission, Vision and Brand strategy, Corporate Communications and Corporate HR Communications. 3. Builds on existing networks and developing where required internal communication and feedback channels (formal and internal) throughout the organization. 4. Assists in the development and launch an integrated communication plan that serves the needs of a diverse audience across all departments through multiple communication tools/channels (website, emails, written collateral, open chat sessions, CEO meetings, notice board type activity, internal brand support, communication support for employee events etc). 5. Serves as one of the content providers for all internal communication channels. 6. Delivers regular communications for all staff through a range of channels, ensuring ease of access to communications, clarity and consistency of messages. 7. Seamlessly work across the organization to ensure that the communication plan is integrated and aligned, as appropriate. 8. Liaises closely with HR functions to execute plans. 9. Assists in defining and implementing tools to measure effectiveness of internal communications and procedures. 10. Ensures effective delivery of change communications, organizational updates, business performance, and key GPS milestones. 11. Improves the work environment climate, while increasing awareness among employees of company activity and plans. 12. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Business or Communications or a related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience. • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar position. • Experience and/or training in television or radio will be considered an asset. • Experience in and with the mobile telecommunications sector would be considered a valuable asset. • An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.
