IT IS A FACT!!! Sharpevilleans are pioneers and thinkers and not afraid of starting what was never there. It is within their genes to set benchmarks and create trademarks. When everyone was ok with the oppressive cold and rush living conditions in the rand and Vereeniging, Sharpeville ancestors at Top Location recorded the first uprising in 1937 that poineered forced removals from nearer to white towns black settlements. This process saw the creation of a model for township development and apartheid architecture and town planning schemes. In 1960, Sharpeville people listened to their hearts and heeded a call for a mass dompas protest. They did not say. women protested in 1956 and so we will wait for the memorandum to be answered. They took to the street in 1960 and created a turning point in South African politics when they were brutally shot on the afternoon of Monday the 21st March 1960. The first state of emergency was declared in South Africa as a result. In 1984 Sharpevilleans wanted to march longer than most to Houtkop against the illegitimate and puppet Lekoa City Council and their ill-founded rent increases. When stopped they fetched the Sharpeville-based Lekoa Vaal Deputy Mayor Councillor Khuzwayo Jacob Dlamini, who opted to shoot at them that to join the march. He was lynched that morning of Monday the 3rd of September 1984... This issue created the Sharpeville Six and the second State of Emergency. Despite all these politically motivated activities, Sharpeville excelled in music, sports, education and many other aspect of life including religion.
