IT IS BETTER TO TRUST IN THE LORD, THAN TO PUT CONFIDENCE IN MAN. - TopicsExpress

IT IS BETTER TO TRUST IN THE LORD, THAN TO PUT CONFIDENCE IN MAN. (PSALM 118:8). Beloved, without a doubt many time you might have been tried with the temptation to rely upon the things which are seen, instead of resting alone upon the invisible God. Many often look to man for help and counsel, and mar the noble simplicity of the reliance upon the Almighty God. For if you trust in JESUS and Him alone for your salvation, then why are you troubled because of your great care? Is it not written, CAST THY BURDEN UPON THE LORD?(PSALM 55:22), and also to BE CAREFUL FOR NOTHING, BUT IN EVERYTHING BY PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION MAKE KNOWN YOUR WANTS UNTO GOD.(PHILIPIANS 4:6). So if you cannot trust God for the temporals, how dare you trust him for the spirituals? Can you trust Him for your souls redemption, and not rely upon Him for a few lesser mercies? Is not God enough for your need? is His all-sufficieny too narrow for your wants? Do you want another eye beside that of Him who sees every secret thing? Is His heart faint? Is His arm weary? If so, then seek for another God; but if He is infinite, omnipotent, faithful, true, and all-wise, why go abroad to seek another confidence? Why do you rake the earth in search for another foundation when this is strong enough to bear all the weight which you can ever build thereon? Mix not your juice with water, do not alloy your gold of faith with the dross of human confidence. Wait only upon the Lord, and let your expectation be from Him. Let the sandy foundation of terrestrial trust be the choice of fools, but build for yourself an abiding place upon the Rock of Ages. Thus: THE LORD IS NOT SLACK CONCERNING HIS PROMISE, AS SOME COUNT SLACKNESS;...(2PET 3:9). Keep the faith!
