IT STARTED WITH A FACEBOOK CHAT. The day before yesterday, i was talking to an old friend. We were exchanging the current on-goings of our lives. He said he had put up Diwali-lights, and i told him about the crackers that i bought. To this, he frowned and told me i shouldnt light fire-crackers; he went to the extent of explaining that fire-crackers cause air and noise pollution, and a BLAH here and another BLAH there. Also, i found similar status updates dancing in my newsfeed.. People have written how much of money is burnt away in Diwali.. Some have updated how smoke from fire-crackers harm birds, and how Diwali is nothing but a source of noise pollution. STRANGE ENOUGH, THESE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE WHO :- 1. post their pics where they are chilling out in discotheques. We all know the music in discos are supposed to be REAL LOUD. And then, these people do not remember its causing noise-pollution. 2. travel in private cars all their life, and think it will degrade their social status if they travel by a public transport (bus, rickshaws, etc.). Air pollution wont cross their minds then. 3. ride bikes and yell to the world about their stuntbaaji skills. And consider it childish and shameful to ride bicycles. And while showing off their stunt skills to their girlfriends or peer group, theyll never think how cycling would be safer and more environment-friendly. 4. fly kites on the kite-flying festival days, and tell people it doesnt cause air or noise pollution, least caring about the no. of birds that get killed. 5.dance and sing out their lungs playing katy perrys FIREWORK and tell you how beautifully 4th july is celebrated in U.S.A and how boring Indian festivals are. The list could monotonously go on and on. Now, there will be ones who will raise their hands and boast of never having gone to discos, or of not owning a bike or a car, or of not flying kites, and will exert their rights to state how anti-environmentalism it is to light fire crackers. To you darlings, have you ever planted a sapling? I agree you travel by public transport,, and do not scream your lungs out at discos... But have you ever explained to a private car owner how beneficial public transports are to our environment ? NO? Then what makes you go about telling people that fire-crackers are not good for our environment, just because you prefer to skip the fun? Your HYPOCRISY, is it? #MY_Salute_to_all_the_hypocrits_around _l_ #Shubh_dipawali_to_everyone_around ^_^
