ITS A BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY! Kind of rains heavily the whole day today, but our hearts are blooming in gratitude for our friends, old and new, especially our fellow EFA members who join our Easter Eggtravaganza Raffle in the last minute. Thank you also to our wonderful friends who took time to browse our Etsy shop to answer the quiz! The two models for our legendary Quacky duck is Crinkle and Dewey. Crinkle was the sole survivor of a litter of three. His mother was gravely ill when I found her laying helplessly inside a gutter with her three newborn babies. I took her home and sustain her long enough that her kittens can start weaning, at which time she died out of so many complication, among those are damaged liver due malnutrition. The mother was only 8 months old according to the vets. One after another, her kittens followed their mother crossing the rainbow bridge. Crinkle - named after the crinkle on the tip of his right ear. He took the duck as surrogate sibling. On one of my mothers visit around two years ago, a few months after I was hospitalized (and ran away), she called me in office hour because she was disturbed by the frantic and desperate mews that seems to be coming from inside a sewer line under the house. She is old, so its not easy for her to bend down, much less play troopers to get to the kittens. Needless to say I left my work halfway, go home, and crawl down under to retrieve two kittens: one was an agouti red kitten (short hair) that was called Eka (sanskrit for one) and the other Dewy (homophonic to the sanskrit two). I dont know why, but once Dewy saw that duckling laying around the floor, she wont let it go. It takes a lot of effort to make the ducklings colour back to yellow and not smelled like a sewer.
