ITS NOT MUSIC TO THEIR EARS If there is ever an opportune time that a concert – and an American one at that – should be prohibited in Malaysia, that would be now; also for the next few months or for the rest of the year. So what if its Mariah Carey. No more western concerts would be even better but then we’d see liberals and ‘freedom fighters’ wailing on FB. Indeed FB is their wailing wall. Come on lah, this year is not exactly a year for big parties. Even the Prime Minister’s Hari Raya open house was cancelled. We are still grieving and reeling from MH370 and MH17. At the risk of understating, we are also affected by the genocides in Palestine and Myanmar, senseless killings in Syria and Egypt and more atrocities in other countries. Im not saying every party has to be cancelled but huge loud American concerts make pretty good candidates. I might possibly have taken a softer stand if just over a week ago the USA, Israels proxy state, had not cast the SOLE VOTE against establishing an investigation by the United Nations into war crimes committed in Gaza. Yet there are actually monkeys wailing, hissing and spitting when Ustaz Ahmad Dusuki Abd Rani voices out his unhappiness at the authorities allowing the concert to be held in October. As far as I’m concerned, the ustaz’s call is valid and at the time of writing more than 13,000 people agree with him including me. If you disagree that is fine but there’s no need to be a drama queen treating it like a national crisis. Am I being too insensitive towards the needs of these music-lover monkeys? Shouldn’t we just let them party dressed half naked at loud American concerts here while others in the country grieve for fellow Malaysians and genocide victims? Should I refrain from calling them monkeys? Semoga Allah membuka hati kita untuk berjaya di dunia dan di akhirat.
