ITS REALLY HAPPENING!! For many years Ive always told people that there needs to be a film Biopic or some kind of Hollywood produced film on the life of bass player legend, JACO PASTORIUS - I pictured different actors who I thought could play Jaco and went as far as sending my idea in an email to Clint Eastwood (I even suggested Clints bass player son, Kyle, but of course, I never heard back). For me, as a drummer, Jaco has been a great musical inspiration, and interestingly enough, Jaco started out as a drummer, was born in Norristown, PA, just 20 minutes from our house, here in the Philly suburbs - where his father, Jack, lived and died. Next to Charlie Parker, Jaco is probably one of the most influential musicians in Jazz (or even in History). Anyway ... this past month, there was an actual Work in Progress screening of the 4 year film project, JACO The Film, in Mill Valley, CA - produced by Metallica bass player, Robert Trujillo. JACO, directed by Paul Marchand, still isnt finished; Trujillo said the film should be completed next year and a distribution deal is being sought for a theatrical release.
