Cheers, AKA-Lade Foundation Alpha Kappa Alpha - Lambda Alpha Omega - Miss FASHIONETTA® Program and Cotillion akalao.org/miss-fashionetta-program-and-cotillion Miss FASHIONETTA® is a debutante cotillion designed to prepare and support high school students for college and beyond. One of the only events of its kind in the Metropolitan Chicago area, the cotillion culminates a series of educational and cultural activities that foster academic achievement and social responsibility. Proceeds raised from the event are used to support programs and activities that empower communities and promote academic excellence. Funds are also awarded in the form of college scholarships to help students secure access to higher education, one of the key components to success. Leading up to that special night, debutantes and their escorts embark on a journey of events and activities to broaden their perspectives educationally, socially and culturally. Participation is not only a life-changing experience, but also an opportunity to be part of a rich legacy that spans decades. To participate in Miss FASHIONETTA®, prospective debutante candidates must: * Be a high school junior or senior of high ethical standards and moral character * Be in a good academic standing; have a GPA of at least 2.5 * Demonstrate involvement in school, church and community activities * Be willing to commit the time and dedication necessary to have a successful experience * Not married and not pregnant Participation in Miss FASHIONETTA® requires a lot of time and concentrated effort on the part of the debutantes, escorts and parents. Debutantes and parents are expected to dedicate the time and effort required for workshops, rehearsals and fundraising. Workshops and cotillion practices are held on Sunday afternoons (unless otherwise stated). Activities typically begin in November. The program culminates with the cotillion in March or April. ***DOWNLOAD*** Miss FASHIONETTA Application 2015 akalao.org/site/assets/360791/Miss_FASHIONETTA_Application_2015.pdf ~~~
