IT’S been a tough call, but I’ve had to make a decision on my schedule for 2015. I’m sad to say I won’t be riding in the Elite League next year and I hope all my genuine fans will understand and continue to support me. The truth is, last July I made myself ill. As World Champion I did everything I possibly could to make British Speedway proud and accepted every media commitment and every racing fixture I possibly could. There came a time, however, where I was mentally and physically exhausted and I needed time away from the sport. I cannot allow that to happen again. It’s not a decision I have taken lightly and I have given it as long as reasonably possible to reach this conclusion. It’s not the end of me racing in England, it’s a year off at this stage and let’s see how it goes. I’m proud to represent Great Britain in the Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup as captain of my country of birth and also in the Speedway Grand Prix series. I want to wish Wolverhampton well for next season and it’s great to see Freddie Lindgren and Jacob Thorssell back there. I hope the boys have a great time and get us back in the play-offs. Keep my seat warm, boys! As I have stated, this decision has been based around my health. Only if you are healthy and in control of your schedule are you really going to challenge for the world title, so let’s go and see if I can win that title back and I look forward to seeing you all at Cardiff in July! Have a great winter everyone and thanks for staying with me.
