Iain Cuthbertson was born on this day, 4th January in 1930 ( died 4 September 2009) in Glasgow. He is best known as a character actor. At 6 4, he was known for his tall imposing build and also his distinctive gravelly heavily accented voice. Films include : The Railway Children (1970) Up the Chastity Belt (1971) Danger UXB (1979) The Assam Garden (1985) Gorillas in the Mist (1988) Scandal (1989) Let Him Have It (1991) Chasing the Deer (1994) The Tichborne Claimant (1998) Strictly Sinatra (2001) Tv includes , Supergran, Duchess of Duke Street, Dr Who, Ripping Yarns, The Pallisers, Sutherlands Law, Para Handy, The Adventures of Black Beauty, Onedin Line, Tom Browns School Days.... And the list goes on, but hes best known for Budgie staring alongside Adam Faith and then its spinoff Charles Endell Esq. ( which is being shown on STV Glasgow just now)
