Ian Holder shared Jeffrey Gibsons status. about a minute ago The night is over and the daylight is before us, let us with heart and mind be open to Gods presence, love and compassion. I give thanks for the abundant outpouring of love and support which emanated from neighbours, friends (including Facebook), colleagues, parishioners and Waveneys former co-workers at yesterdays wake. It was very comforting. The gathering came from near and far, for example: Westbury and Brooklyn; Boston and Plainfield; Tampa and Miami; and Westbury Road, Barbados and Nassau, The Bahamas. However, permit me to single out Barbados Consul General to NY, the Major of Plainfield, NJ, and the good old St. Jude s Group. In case of the latter, it was a great reunion in many ways. Some people were seeing each other for the first since they left the shores of Barbados. In fact, some had to be introduced to each other. It has been a long time since some of us played cricket in the tar road or volley ball on dirt pasture; sang or served in St Jude s Church, but Sheriff was playing pranks and La-lu telling tales. The social setting was great and the evening climaxed with a spirit-filled act of thanksgiving to God for Waveneys life, witness and work, ably led by my friend and colleague, her Parish Priest of many years, the Very Rev. P. McAllister Rawlins. One of the strengths of my sister was her capacity to make friends and to sustain that relationship overtime. It was quite evident as we comforted each other though her voice was silent and her effervescent personality was a memory. Thanks to all for making it the experience it was. Today, we gather in St. Georges Church, 319 Front Street, Hempstead, LI, NY at 9 oclock for the Funeral Eucharist. The internment will follow in the Churchyard of All Saints Episcopal Church, NY. Let us be open to Gods presence and embrace of God, the mother and father of us all.
