Ibadan again? Is the largest city in West Africa now the kidnap and ritual sacrifice capital of the world?...It’s hardly one week since the corpses of victims of ritual sacrifice were uncovered in a kidnappers’ den in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital...And now this!...This past weekend, a Muslim cleric, Isa Salaudeen, was caught slaughtering a woman identified as Chinwendu Nkwocha, in his room at Ori Eru, Idikan area of Ibadan. As the cleric carried out the gruesome act, Ms. Nkwocha yelled and yelled and yelled and her persistent cry for help attracted the attention of Salaudeen’s neighbors who broke down his door to rescue Nkwocha, whose neck, by this time, had been badly cut...Nkwocha was rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. Her boyfriend was said to have brought her to the cleric for spiritual cleansing. An eyewitness says: People heard the lady’s shouts from inside the house and kicked the door open only to find that the Alfa had pinned her to the floor and was already cutting her neck. The Alfa ran out of the house when the first person broke in. The woman’s neck was already cut. The head would have been totally cut off if help hadnt come. Taiwo Agunlofi, a resident of the area, said, angry youths in the area caught the suspect after trying to escape. Were it not for timely intervention, the Muslim cleric would have been lynched by angry youths....Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olabisi Ilobanafor, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect was already in custody and had made useful statements...Welcome to Ibadan, Olukemi Omololu-Olunloyes (3pl3Nuts) home!
