Icon of the 20th century. She was a seriously underrated for her acting skills and miscast throughout her career in Hollywood. To those that knew her, she was extremely intelligent in many unexpected fields and was a diligent reader. She studied philosophy, the arts including singing, dancing, and of course acting. Lee Strasburg and the actors studio is where she studied film and acting. This is where Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Al Pacino, Robert DiNiro, Robert Redford, Dustin Hoffman, James Dean perfected their craft, and only a select few of the most talented in the world studied there. To me she is what encompassed beauty with her unapologetic voluptuous figure, not these 90lb talentless hacks of today represent. She was kind to a fault and too many exploited her for it, especially the studios in those days where actors where indentured servants. She looked for character and maturity in her husbands, not some playboy who looked good in red carpet shots. Joe DiMaggio was extremely important in her life, and later realized that his being overly possessive caused their break up, but when she needed him he was there. Arthur Miller on the other hand was someone she greatly admired and truly thought she was in love with him. He showed indifference toward her and was not very supportive of her goals. If only we had another 30 or 40 years with her, just the thought of where that talent could have taken her.
