Iconic composition from the Congolese musical revolutionary - TopicsExpress

Iconic composition from the Congolese musical revolutionary Franklin Boukaka. A Socialist, he challenged the corruption he saw in the Congo with his music. When music failed, he took up arms and died in the process. This album was produced and arranged by Manu Dibango, and recorded in Paris. One of my favourites of all time. A true revolutionary in the mould of Fela. The lyrics are roughly translated Africa they say you are Independent, Africa, they say you are free. Chopping the wood is hard, selling it is harder. It is election time, now they remember me again. When you won the election, you broke all the promises you made and spent the money on cars and women etc...
