Id laugh. But its pretty much true. President is supposed to genuinely be an overseer of the agreement between the states--the Constitution. He is the last line of defense, before a bill becomes a law, in sincerely making sure that the law is in accordance with and in the true spirit of that agreement & that it is in the overwhelming best interest of the states. Executive orders are only meant to clarify a gray area--basically saying that this issue has come up and I am sincerely unsure as to what the Constitution says or what the founders really meant...therefore, until I am instructed otherwise, heres how Im interpreting the agreement and, thus, how I will be enforcing this issue until advised otherwise. It was certainly never meant for law-making (like a kings edict) in circumventing the constitutional law-making process. In fact, its highly illegal--each act is a high crime and/or misdemeanor. And before anyone tries to point out any biases on my part, both sides do it and this behaviour has been escalating by presidents on both sides for some time now. SNL got some specifics wrong. But, in general, this parody is a very good depiction of what is happening. And Im happy to see those from all sides of the political spectrum becoming concerned about it. Bravo SNL on this one!!!!!
