Id like to explain my song a little bit. Itd be irrational to say that the fantasy of hooking up with a teacher has not gone through most of your heads. Thats just being honest. Everyone knows who the hot teachers are, its just a thing kids talk about. So my first verse was a play on how I thought it was crazy that it actually might have happened. Nothing more nothing less. The idea that some kids fantasy might have come true is astonishing and provided for a funny verse. Thats it. Miss. Gordon was one of my absolute favorite teachers. I wouldnt love music as much as I do today if I hadnt had her as a teacher. So theres that. She was a friend and a mentor to a lot of us. The second verse explains how I feel about our judicial process and the way us Americans are so quick to jump to conclusions. I dont like how one action can result in a lifes worth of consequence. I also dont like how black and white the process is in the eyes of the law. I dont think age and maturity have a definite correlation. In middle school there were punks setting off firealarms and making bomb threats while at the same time there were mature students working with political leaders in town and even congress. So a 14yr old should not be the only thing seen here. Im not condoning or justifying either party. Im simply saying the situation shouldnt be assessed solely on numerical value. Thats all. The other band kids and I know miss Gordon for the great teacher she is and the great things she taught us. Anyone who had her knows exactly what I mean and that what is going on does not take away from the great things we learned and accomplished under her teaching. I would hate to see one situation ruin a persons life and that is what pisses me off the most about this. Im not here to address what ifs. Im here speaking on behalf of the teacher we knew and the situation at hand so I would appreciate if we could keep things relative to that. I stand by my song as being my creative way of handling a very emotional thing that came up this week! Thanks and my apologies to anyone offended by what I had to say.
