Id like to introduce a new way to a healthy living: NEW START Nutrition Exercise Water Sunlight Temperance Air Rest Trust in God Embrace Life Lets start with the N which stands for:- Nutrition To function well and be disease free our bodies need a good nutrition. Not only that but we also need to discard the bad stuff from our diet. If we look from the Bible God gave us our original diet since He is the one who made us: See Gen 1:29 (Fruit, Vege, Nuts and grains) Protein - You can get it in: - Peas and Legumes/Beans - Whole grain (Brown rice, whole wheat, oats or corn) - Nuts - Vegetables (Broccoli, potatoes) Just make sure you dont over eat A diet high in meat and cheese provides too much protein - the body doesnt need this - which along with animal fat stimulates atherosclerosis leading to heart disease. Large amounts of protein overwork the kidneys can also cause kidney disease. Carbohydrates - Contain energy for everyday optimum work performance. High carb foods are energy foods. However, we need to eleminate the Bad Carb such as : - Table Sugar - Refined Grains (White Rice, White Flour, Deserts, Sweetened Cereal, and Pastries) - Also discard Candies and Soft Drinks from the diet. And replace with Good Carbs - Potatoes - Brown Rice - Whole Grain Breads - Whole Grain Cereals Fats Avoid Bad Fats, they are harmful for the body and can cause diseases, and they are: - Lard - Shortening - Butter - Fish - Meat - Poultry - Margarine - Fried Foods - Cream - Mayonnaise - Cheese Replace these with Good Fats - Avocado - Olives - Seeds - Nuts - Omega 3 fats (very healthy) found in walnuts and ground flax seeds. Fiber is like scrub brushes in our body keeping our digestive system clean and functioning well. We get fiber in - Whole plant foods Meats, milk products and refined foods have no fiber and tend to clog the digestive system leading to disease. Research has shown that a high fiber diet decreases the risk of many forms of cancer and heart attacks. Sodium A LITTLE salt is good. But very salty foods such as - Meat products, - Pickles - Canned foods - Backing soda/powder - and many cereals Promote high blood pressure and heart disease. So try to limit salt in your diet. What should you eat? - Whole plant foods full of nutrition. - Everyday we should eat lots of fruit and vegetables, whole grains, legumes and nuts Breakfast - Is the most important meal of the day - A good breakfast should have foods high in protein and complex/good carbohydrates. Dont forget the fruit and your seeds. Lunch - Try to eat a good lunch Supper - Try to eat a very light supper. And eat two hour before you go to bed. This will give you energy for the day and a good nights rest :-)
