Id like to make a point about the cash grab called Municipal Parking Do we realize how short sighted it is to enjoy the increased revenue from our parking charges and our Violation collections while paying no attention to the businesses that are closing down and boarding up because of no tourists. I recently spent a few hours in Woodland Beach for the Memories Day and found a gentleman putting special one day passes on our parked cars to allow us to attend. Our cars were parked outside the closed dead stores that were thriving back in the 40s and 50s when I vacationed there. Did Tiny township like Wasaga Beach forget their mandate to the business owners? How often would I go to WalMart if I had to pay for parking. The Town gains the parking revenue and loses the business tax base. Did anybody plan for the future or just the current cash grab? I seems that too many towns and tourist areas are concentrating on the income from parking fees and turning a blind eye to the effect on business who will definitely pay more in taxes if they are successful. Very short sighted thinking. Its time for all the municipalities especially Wasaga to rethink this idea of parking revenue in place of business taxes. We are in the business of Tourism not parking lots.
