Id like to nominate Mark Vaughan for a boss of the year award. Heres what his local sheriff has to say about him: Mr. Vaughan, who serves as CEO of Vaughan Foods, was at work and when he was alerted that a man was attacking employees with a knife. Mark didn’t hesitate. He quickly responded. Mark put an end to the threat by shooting the suspect and saving the life of a second victim who was being actively attacked by the suspect. There is every reason to believe that the lives of untold others were saved who would have been targeted by the suspect if it hadn’t been for [his] actions. -- statement by Sheriff John Whetsel, with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office My take: This man volunteered his own time to get trained as a deputy in his countys law enforcement system. Like other volunteers, he worked hard for over 10 months to get through the LE academy there. Then he took it a step further and got even more training so he would be prepared to deal with a wider variety of situations. Even so? I bet he didnt go to work that morning thinking, Today Ill have to draw my gun and shoot an ex-employee whos beheading people in the customer service area... But his proactive decision to become both equipped (with the tools) and prepared (with good training) saved lives during this highly unexpected event. 9-1-1 transcripts and press conference at link. kfor/2014/09/25/reports-police-respond-to-possible-shooting-near-moore-grocery-store/
